THE ADAIR COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT WILL HOLD A REGULAR CLINIC DAY WITH CHILDREN’S IMMUNIZATIONS, BLOOD SUGAR AND BLOOD PRESSURE CHECKS, AND FASTING CHOLESTEROL SCREENINGS FOR ADAIR COUNTY RESIDENTS, ALL DAY, AT THEIR OFFICE IN KIRKSVILLE.

 

THE SULLIVAN COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT WILL HOLD A BLOOD PRESSURE AND BLOOD SUGAR CLINIC, FROM 8:30 TO 9AM, AT THEIR OFFICE IN MILAN.

THE DUKUM INN, IN DOWNTOWN KIRKSVILLE, WILL HOST ‘CARS AND COFFEE’, FROM 8AM TO NOON.

THE MILAN OLD-TIMERS REUNION CONTINUES WITH ANOTHER DAY OF ACTIVITIES, INCLUDING A COMMUNITY CHURCH SERVICE AT 11:15AM.   

 

THE MADISON LIONS CLUB WILL HOLD ITS ANNUAL BBQ CHICKEN FUNDRAISER, SERVING FROM 11AM TO 2PM AT THE MADISON LIONS DEN, TODAY AND MONDAY. 

 

THE NOVINGER COAL MINERS MUSEUM WILL OFFER TOURS FROM 2 TO 4PM. 

 

THOUSAND HILLS STATE PARK, WEST OF KIRKSVILLE, WILL HOST A FREE ‘SEIZE THE PREY’ EVENT, FEATURING A BIRDS OF PREY EXHIBIT AND DEMONSTRATIONS, STARTING AT 3PM, AT THE PARK’S POINT SHELTER.

MEMORIAL DAY!  NEARLY ALL OF THE AREA’S GOVERNMENT OFFICES, CITY HALLS, COUNTY COURTHOUSES, THE AREA’S HEALTH DEPARTMENT OFFICES AND A NUMBER OF BUSINESSES WILL BE CLOSED IN OBSERVANCE OF THE HOLIDAY. 

 

THE COLUMBIA RED CROSS BLOOD DONATION CENTER WILL BE OPEN FOR DONORS ON THIS MEMORIAL DAY…FROM 7AM TO 2PM.

 

A NUMBER OF COMMUNITIES HAVE SPECIAL PROGRAMS PLANNED IN OBSERVANCE OF MEMORIAL DAY. 

THE MISSOURI STATE VETERANS CEMETERY IN JACKSONVILLE WILL HOLD ITS ANNUAL MEMORIAL DAY CEREMONY, BEGINNING AT 9AM. 

THE BROOKFIELD VFW POST AND OTHER ORGANIZATIONS WILL HOST A MEMORIAL DAY SERVICE, AT 10AM, AT ROSE HILL CEMETERY IN BROOKFIELD.

DOWNTOWN COLUMBIA’S ANNUAL MEMORIAL DAY CELEBRATION BEGINS WITH THE PARADE AT 10AM, WITH A MASS PARACHUTE JUMP BY THE U.S. ARMY’S GOLDEN KNIGHTS AND THE CANADIAN SKYHAWKS. 

THE MT. PLEASANT CEMETERY ASSOCIATION OF HOWARD COUNTY WILL HOST A MEMORIAL DAY SERVICE AT 10AM AT THE CEMETERY, LOCATED JUST NORTH OF NEW FRANKLIN. 

THE ADAIR COUNTY VETERANS ORGANIZATIONS WILL HOST A MEMORIAL DAY CEREMONY AT 11AM AT THE RIEGER ARMORY IN KIRKSVILLE. 

THE MACON MEMORIAL DAY SERVICE WILL BEGIN AT 11AM, IN FRONT OF THE MACON COUNTY COURTHOUSE. 

THE GENERAL JOHN J. PERSHING BOYHOOD HOME STATE HISTORIC SITE IN LACLEDE WILL HOST ITS MEMORIAL DAY PROGRAM, STARTING AT 1:30PM. 

 

THE 17TH ANNUAL DARIN BRYAN MEMORIAL 5K AND 10K WILL BE HELD, BEGINNING AT 7:30AM AT SIMPSON PARK IN CHILLICOTHE.
